In reality, I'm probably watching anime or playing video games or something. Some of my friends watch anime, but most of them don't even have a clue that I watch anime (they think I'm only into sports, gaming and other "normal dude" stuff). I sometimes watch anime in public, but I don't advertise it.

Although when i was in elementary school (-ish since the school system here is quite different) 2 girls were often somewhat bullied and looked down upon because of them reading manga / watching anime, but they really did go overboard with it, beginning to speak japanese in class, acting like they were "superior" because they did so, and stuff like that, so imo it was their own fault really.

I've been watching it for longer than I have had any of my friends, so I never saw a point in giving up something I enjoyed to impress new people. I don't hide it in public either. If I want to have a conversation about an episode I watched while I'm standing in line, I do. Now that I'm in my mid 20's, I find it hard to care if people accept me watching anime or not. There's so much more to my life than caring about what others think and say. Besides, if I didn't have the hobbies I do, I would be just like them
