Since I'm reading and hearing a lot about racism and stereotypes on certain groups, a question comes in mind.
Who among you experienced racism or being stereotype(not witness an act of racism)? Where? Who did it to you? How did it happened? How did you handle the situation? Just curious. |

Who among you experienced racism or being stereotype?
Family, friends. Many people experience it. Where? Don't keep track of it, but it's many places; school, city etc. Who did it to you? Strangers. Of different ethnicities. How did it happened? Discrimination mostly. How did you handle the situation? Nothing. it doesn't bother me anymore. I just ignore it. |

For me it's sexism. It's constantly assumed that I cannot do my job as well as my co workers because I have the wrong plumbing.

Other children and older teenagers. Young adults(20-30) rarely. And one time an old lady handing out sweets to all the children and obviously ignoring me out of a group of ten children.(the only time that really made me mad!) Trying to join in on a game, looking at someone the wrong way, walking in the wrong street... just being in the wrong place. Brawling when I was really small, answering in the same way(racist slurs right back)... Talking my way out! I remember one time a guy was about to beat me up. He followed me from elementary school home and waited for a secluded area and there I screamed and called him a coward for beating up smaller children(he was 4-5 years older than me). That was the only time I mangaed such a situation without a fight and I'm still proud of it. It started to get serious once I got older(at one point my parents grounded me for a month after a neighbour had seen a guy holding a knife to my stomach) so I started backing out and spending my time at home alone. Edit: Another story! I actually never realized how bad my neighbourhood really was until I had a schoolmate over at night. He had only heard stories from other people and had never been there before(where he came from wasn't a good area either but obviously not as bad as my home) and I didn't expect him to be afraid to go out at night. That was awesome! That also explains why noone would ever visit me as a child. The parents were afraid to let their children go into our neighbourhood. I could go over to them but I had never anyone stay over at my place. |

Strong enough for men, made for women. Anything less will be uncivilized.

some Puertoricans at my high school two years ago were making fun of my friend for wearing so tight of jeans hahah. i intervened when it got out of hand. They told me "who the fuck are you white ass faggot" ...........I'm Filipino-Spanish xD
I told them so and they were freaking out on me about my friend an they wont to beat his ass. I stood my ground and told them to leave. A few of there friends came to get them to leave. thats about it. that really hurt though....."white ass faggot" im straight an i may be a little on the paler side but im not white |

Who among you experienced racism or being stereotype(not witness an act of racism)? Where? Who did it to you? How did it happened? How did you handle the situation? Just curious. As with most other black Americans, I've experienced it multiple times in my life. But unlike most others, most of the people who judge me based on racial stereotypes have been people of my own race. They've always expected me to have the same interests in them, such as liking the same music and TV shows as them, being obsessed with shoes and jewelry like them, and doing drugs and having sex like them, among other things. They also automatically assume I am Christian as well, which isn't true. I've been harassed because I "talk white," meaning I don't have a ghetto accent, and I "walk white," because I don't wear my pants around my knees and do an awkward waddle in an attempt to keep them up. I've been laughed at because I don't exclusively listen to hip hop and R&B, and the songs that I do like from those genres aren't mainstream. I could list tons of other things, but I think I've made my point. So I've been ostracized and looked down upon by the majority of black people I've encountered throughout my life, which is a lot since I've lived in black neighborhoods most of my life and went to mostly-black schools. It used to bother me, but now I don't really react to it because I expect it. |

I have always wondered what is the fundamental flaw with racism or prejudice. Are we not supposed to make assumptions? Either way, I was ridiculed 1 year ago for being Asian. I gave him a punch that knocked him to the ground. At School, gangster wanna be ^-- for saying Kunichwa to me. 2 years ago, I smashed a kid's head into the wall. At school, ugly and dumb kid. ^- for saying Ching Chong Chong 3 years ago, At the basketball court during the night, after he mocked me with some racist comments and I retaliated with facts that ridicule him of what a pathetic fool he really is, he launched the fight with fist while thinking that his superior mass will win the fight. I punched him to the floor, with him having no more will or energy to fight. I then started... kicking him on the groin... on the head.. and then heavily on the abdomen. I then spit onto his face many times.. kicked him in the head again.. and announced my departure. There are many fights or.. rather.. sometimes me just grabbing onto their head and stuffing their face with my fists, but I never got into trouble. I did get caught by the police.. but managed to become seemly be the complete victim( even though I initiated the fight) and got away with no repercussion mmmmmmmmmmmm, well, believe it if you want. Its being 4 years since I have been in a true fight. Nor do I want to get involved in one again, with the danger of a knife like the last instance.. |
